Literacy Trainer, Coach and Reading Specialist: Led a low performing school to double CST scores, doubling the number of students scoring above the 50% on CST, STAR, standardized test and significantly increasing scores in all areas and make the greatest gains in district on CST for 3 years in EUSD. Performed a Needs Analysis using data and observation. Created action plans to identified top training and teaching materials and methods and locate “holes.” Selected and implemented reading programs, Step Up to Writing and wrote curriculum for missing standards. Trained teachers, instructional assistants, parents and volunteers to use brain based, effective teaching methods and key skills and strategies for teaching reading, ESL, second language students and special needs students. Challenged all students, including gifted students to ask and answer higher level thinking questions and solve complex problems. Targeted reading, writing, outlining, comprehension, vocabulary skills, word attack skills and study skills.
District BTSA Trainer: Trained and coached beginning teachers to become effective teachers, to score 4 out of 4 on observations by administration using the California Standards for the Teaching Profession to measure performance. Created training materials and presentations. Conducted observations and gave performance based and data based assessments. Worked with colleagues to improve teacher effectiveness and increase student learning, DAIT, SAT, SST, PPR, IIUSP, and conducted internal reviews for CCR and PQR.
Lead District Literacy Trainer and Reading Specialist: Created training programs and develop curriculum to increase student achievement and proficiency as measured on the CST, District Writing Assessment, DRA and other assessments.
Classroom teacher: Increased test scores in all areas and worked to bring out the best in
each student, academically and socially.
Immigrant Resource Teacher: Facilitated services for English language learners. Trained classified staff, speaking 32 different languages, to work with students who had recently immigrated to the U.S.. Wrote curriculum and lesson plans that were easy to follow and implement. Demonstrated teaching methods and best practices for teaching survival English and reading skills. Served as a liaison between the schools, the families, and the district office.

Gifted and Talented Teacher: GATE Certification. Significant gains on CST scores by 60% of students. Increased students test scores including students who moved from the 8th to the 9th stanine, standard nine test measurement. Used Junior Great Books, the Stock Market, guest speakers and innovative curriculum to challenge students and maximize their potential.
Highest pass rate in the district on 4th Grade Writing Proficiency Test.

Teacher, Fund Raiser: Taught Native American students from 6 local pueblos as well as those in the neighboring communities. Participated in training for teaching Native American students. Attended feast day celebrations with students and their families. Organized and raised funds and support for the first Native American group of students to go to Europe. Taught Affective Skills to help students practice interviewing skills, write resumes and prepare for their future. Taught reading, math, social studies and science.

Classroom teacher: Used visual and performing arts, multiple intelligences and learning style assessments to differentiate instruction and provide an optimal learning environment for each student at this Title One School. Helped every student participate in musicals and talent shows. Won a science grant from a Discover Toy Contest.
